Collection: Red Light and Laser

Research shows that red light in the 630-720 nanometer (1 billionth of a meter) wavelength range has beneficial effects on tissue healing.  Light therapy, or phototherapy is capable of photobiomodulation -- using light (photons) to positively influence biological activity of cells, much like photosynthesis in plants and Vitamin D synthesis from ultraviolet light.  In the case of animal cells, red light has been shown to reduce inflammation, reduce pain pathways and stimulate energy production (ATP synthesis) in cells. 

Popular light therapy devices include LED (light emitting diode) pads/wraps that emit red and infrared wavelengths; hand-held instruments that focus light onto a smaller area, and hand-held lasers that can penetrate deeper below the skin.
