Own the device that many chiropractors, physical therapists and sports medicine doctors use to treat chronic musculoskeletal problems; particularly:

  • fibrosis-- excess fibrous tissue build-up, post-injury or post-surgery
  • scar tissue adhesions-- areas of scar tissue that bind and restrict muscle and tendon movement
  • calcified ligaments & tendons-- hardened soft tissues causing restricted joint movement
  • enthesopathies-- pain and swelling of the tendon-bone interface due to overuse, such as plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, patellar tendinitis.
  • frozen shoulder-- immobile shoulder joint due to adhesions of internal structures
  • myofascial pain-- painful muscles from abnormally-healed fascial tears

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is the application of high intensity, high velocity acoustic/pressure waves that are focused at a specific, targeted tissue.  The pressure waves break apart small, irregular fibrous bands of scar tissue.  Shockwaves can also stimulate angiogenesis, the creation of new microvasculature (small blood vessels).

When the fibrous tissue is broken down by the shockwaves, it triggers tissue repair as the body senses it as a "micro injury." This mobilizes fibroblast cells to secrete collagen fibers, and other cells to move out the waste debris.  As a result, movement of muscle and soft tissues can be restored.

This personal shockwave device is lightweight; has a small footprint, and best of all, is very easy to use.  You can download a free app on your mobile phone or tablet and choose the settings.  There are several preset protocols for various conditions which you can select.  Then, press the power button on the hand applicator and apply gentle pressure over the target area, moving it slowly back and forth.

The tapping noise you hear is the shockwave being generated by the repeated, rapid acceleration of a metal rod inside the applicator, striking the back of the wave-focusing attachment.  The soundwave then propagates from the tip of the attachment and into the body.  There are several attachments to choose from, which vary the size (circumference) and depth of the shockwave.

A typical shockwave treatment plan offered at a clinic can cost upwards to $150/treatment; 6-12 treatments.  Just 20 treatments will pay for the cost of the machine.  It's a great tool to add to your home therapy set!

This device is ideal for those with chronic and difficult cases who require ongoing, costly therapy sessions (sports massage, chiropractic, physical therapy), and athletes who frequently injure/ strain muscles, ligaments and tendons, as shockwave can prevent excessive scar tissue from forming after an injury.
